Amnesty International - Voice Our Concern
Announcing the launch of Amnesty International’s Voice Our Concern 2010
I would also like to inform you of upcoming project, Voice Our Concern that Amnesty International and the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) are launching this September. Voice Our Concern is a human rights education project enabling transition year students to learn about and discuss human rights in a creative, participatory and empowering way. This year we will be working with internationally celebrated artist and Professor of Photography at the University of Ulster, Paul Seawright.
Paul will conduct a workshop with the participating teachers that will explore the process involved in his arts practice and how this process can be successfully applied to produce art that convey human rights issues. Each school will then make a creative work that explores and reflects concerns around human rights issues that will be shown in at the showcase event to celebrate the end of the project.
Throughout the course of the project Amnesty International will provide speakers to work with the students on various human rights issues. Also IMMA will be holding events throughout the project that will help the participating students to further immerse themselves in contemporary art.
This year Voice Our Concern will run from September 2010 to April 2011. If you are interested in applying or want more information please contact Sorcha Tunney at stunney@amnesty.ie
